Step by step

    Disembark from the ferry

    On the Lavrio dock. Follow the signs to the port exit. Lavrio is a small port — it's easy to find your way.

    Find the KTEL ticket office

    On the seaside Iroon Polytechniou Avenue, next to the central square. Signs read "KTEL Attikis" / "Athens". Open roughly 06:00 – 21:30.

    €5.50 ticket — to Athens

    The KTEL Lavrio-Athens line terminates at Pedion Areos (Mavrommataion Terminal). There is no Nomismatokopio stop on this line.

    Boarding & ~1h 40m ride

    Luggage compartment underneath the bus. Route via Markopoulo & Attiki Odos. Can take up to 2 hours during rush hour or weekends.

    Arrive at Mavrommataion Terminal

    The terminal is at Mavrommataion Av. 29, on the northwest corner of Pedion Areos park. You get off here — no closer stop available.

    Walk ~5 min to Ioulianou 50

    West on 3is Septemvriou (3 blocks), south on 28is Oktovriou / Patision (1-2 blocks), then right on Ioulianou. Number 50. With wheeled luggage the route is flat.

    Alternative: Victoria Metro (L.1)

    If you prefer to take the metro for 2 stops, Victoria station is ~8 min walk from Mavrommataion. Not recommended though — Ioulianou is even closer if you walk directly.

Good to know

  • KTEL stops running at 21:30 — late ferry arrivals require a taxi
  • Weekends & holidays the service is significantly thinner — check ktelattikis.gr
  • No Nomismatokopio stop on this line — terminates only at Pedion Areos
  • With heavy luggage prefer a taxi — walking with rolling cases over crowded pavements is tough
  • Bring water — it's a long ride with no stops

    Outside the disembarkation area you'll find a small stand. Lavrio is a small port — if no taxi is available, ask the ticket office to call one or use an app.

    "Ioulianou 50, Athens 104 34". The taxi has NO fixed fare from Lavrio — ask for an estimate before getting in. Normal range: €80-110 during the day.

    Attiki Odos tolls

    The route runs via Attiki Odos. Tolls ~€2.80 — the driver adds them at the end (or you pay yourself at the toll station).

    ~60 km. During rush hour (Friday afternoons, summer weekends) it can stretch to 80-90 min.

Important tips

KTEL Attikis runs the Lavrio-Athens line. All buses terminate at Pedion Areos (Mavrommataion Av.) — there is no alternative stop.
Lavrio KTEL buses stop running at 21:30. If you arrive later, your only option is a taxi.
From Mavrommataion Terminal to Ioulianou 50 is just ~5 minutes walking (~700 m). No metro needed.
KTEL has a luggage compartment under the bus. Arrive early to find a seat — this line gets busy in summer.
Weekends and holidays Lavrio KTEL services thin out significantly — check schedules at ktelattikis.gr.
From Lavrio to Athens there is no fixed taxi fare. Ask for an estimate before getting in.
Lavrio mainly serves ferries to/from Kea, Kythnos and some Northern Aegean routes. It's the smallest of the three Attica ports.
