A koulouri (κουλούρι) is a ring-shaped sesame-crusted bread — one of the most iconic Greek street foods, traditionally sold by street vendors since ancient times. Koulourades reinvented it: same sesame crust, but stuffed with sweet and savory fillings.
Stuffed koulouria
The main thing here: classic Thessaloniki koulouri, stuffed. From apple-cinnamon and Philadelphia cream cheese to chocolate-Oreo and Bueno. More than 20 options.
Plain sesame koulouri
The classic unfilled version — crispy sesame crust, freshly baked. Best eaten warm with a coffee. One of the cheapest and most satisfying breakfasts in Athens.
Coffee & drinks
Espresso, freddo, frappe. If you are stopping for a koulouri, take your coffee too. They open at 6 AM, so it works well before a day trip.
Bougatsa & snacks
Bougatsa (cream or cheese pastry), cold sandwiches, traganakia (crunchy snacks). Good if you need something more filling in the morning.
💡 The Koulourades story
The company started in 2016 in Piraeus, founded by baker Dimitris Grivas. It is based on an older recipe from 1956 and, within a few years, became one of the faster-growing franchise networks in Greece. Today they produce more than 250,000 koulouria per day across a nationwide network.
